Meet Our Pastor


 
 
Rev. Terrell M. Shields was born on April 25, 1954 to the late Dora Shields and J.W. Tate in Gainesville, Georgia. He is married to the former Sylvia F. Gresham of Jefferson, Georgia. They have two daughters, Cherish and Terrica; four grandchildren, Bernard, Terriana, Christiana an the late Davarius "DJ" Shields.
 
Rev. Shields received his early education in the Gainesville City schools of Gainesville, Georgia. He received his BA from Selma University in Selma, Alabama. He was licensed to preach May of 1975 and ordained in March of 1977 by the Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church of Gainesville, Georgia.
 
Rev Shields is a Baptist minister and pastor who loves God and enjoys preaching the Gospel. He is the former pastor of the Fortson Grove Baptist Church of Elberton, Georgia and the Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church of Gainesville, Georgia. He is currently the pastor of the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church if Rome, Georgia where he has served for the past 38 years.
 
Rev. Shields served as the first president of the Georgia State Youth Convention, president of the Floyd County Ministerial Association, and Moderator of the North Georgia Baptist Association. He also organized the Free Marcus Dixon Campaign; organized and serves as Chairman of the Rome-Floyd Thanksgiving Love Feast for the past 35 years.
 
Rev. Shields has served in many capacities and received many other awards, but none are as rewarding and gratifying as serving God Almighty by preaching the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
